We are proud to announce that Miðeind has been awarded a grant from the

Language Technology Programme. The grant supports the development of a project that utilizes the latest artificial intelligence technology to make children's content accessible with Icelandic speech, as well as enabling the public to translate and dub videos in an efficient and fast manner. The solution we are working on is based on neural network models that translate speech from video content into Icelandic.

The project's goal is clear: to ensure that children in Iceland can enjoy quality content in Icelandic through modern media that meets today's standards. We hope that the project will make it easier for authorities to set requirements or obligations when it comes to dubbing television content on foreign streaming services, especially for children.

This is a significant step towards ensuring the Icelandic language's place in the digital society and new technology that shapes the culture and communication of the future.
