The translation engine Erlendur was introduced along with group subscriptions just a month ago, as we announced at the time. Erlendur has been incredibly well received, and we are very grateful for that. Now, we have made Málstaður even more useful for our users to enjoy.

New feature: Summaries of meetings and lectures

Countless meetings and lectures take place every day, often containing important but inaccessible information.

We have now added a new feature to Málstaður that is useful for various types of content, such as meetings, lectures, news, and scientific articles.

The summarization feature produces a summary of a text, for example, in the form of meeting minutes, where the agenda, discussions, and decisions are concisely summarized in Icelandic and organized by topic.

Text can be sent directly to the summarizer from Málfríður, but it is also possible to connect other Málstaður solutions into a longer workflow. For instance, you can send a recording of a meeting to Hreimur for speech recognition and receive a transcribed script of the meeting with time codes. From there, the script can be sent to Málfríður for summarization to get concise meeting minutes. Finally, it is possible to send the minutes to Erlendur and have them translated into numerous languages.

This feature increases efficiency and effectiveness in processing meetings and lectures and reduces manual work, while also making information more accessible and easier to share. The summarization feature further expands the potential uses of Málstaður so it does more for you.

New in the interface: The Magic Button

In addition to the new functionality, we have updated our interface to make it more user-friendly. Now, each solution within Málstaður has its own menu bar, but the magic button, a new addition, contains all actions related to the flow between solutions and subscription functions. We hope the magic button makes life easier for users and makes using Málstaður a magical experience!

Increased subscription benefits

On this occasion, we have increased the benefits you receive in Málstaður as a subscriber. Access to the summarizer is included in an individual subscription, and you can submit up to 100,000 characters per month. The summarizer is also available in a group subscription, where you pay per use and can use as much or as little as you like. The price is 10 ISK per 1,000 characters.

Changes to Terms and Privacy

We have updated our terms to reflect these changes. It is also worth mentioning that Málstaður now uses Google Vertex services within Europe, so data is only sent to processors within the European Economic Area (EEA). The service is also set up so that neither Google nor the owners of the large language models that are called upon have access to the data sent through the service. This enforces Miðeind's policy on responsible and transparent use of artificial intelligence.
